New to Boise from SoCal and have tried at least 40 Vietnamese/pho restaurants over the years; Pho Nguyen is absolutely great and they have the flavors I want and look for in good Vietnamese food. So stoked this was the first one I tried in Boise and is my local restaurant! I honestly don't need to try another unless I just have a craving and am not close to home.

For the people looking for a Vietnamese person's review. I grew up eating in Westminster (Southern California) and now live near San Jose, CA. Pho and Bun Bo Hue are my favorite foods and I've eaten them from at least 50 different restaurants each. I ordered the spicy beef noodle (Bun Bo Hue) and had my brother order the Pho so I could try. Both were great! Spicy beef noodle soup had a lot of good flavor. Meat good. Noodles good. Broth excellent. It's competitive and a bit better than your average Westminster/San Jose bowl of Bun Bo Hue which is far better than I was expecting. If I moved to Boise I'd have to live within a 15 min drive of this restaurant to be happy. I tried Pho Le in Boise which is good but Pho Nguyen is better. Service was good. I'll be back next time I'm in town.

We enjoyed every single authentic bite! I had the grilled pork with spring rolls over vermicelli. My husband had chicken bahn mi and chicken pho. The service was super friendly! This is definitely your neighborhood place for fresh and tasty Vietnamese cuisine. We decided before we left that we will be regulars.

Pho Nguyen in Boise is hands down the best Vietnamese restaurant I've tried in the area. Their pho is incredibly authentic, with a rich, flavorful broth that tastes just like the bowls I've had in Vietnam. However, the real standout for me is their grilled pork rice. The pork is perfectly seasoned and grilled, offering a savory and slightly smoky flavor that's absolutely delicious. While the dish is a bit on the oily side, it only adds to the richness, making each bite incredibly satisfying. Their spring rolls are another highlight—both the fried and fresh versions. The fried spring rolls are crispy without being greasy, and the fresh ones are packed with vibrant, fresh ingredients, making them a perfect appetizer or light meal. It’s clear that Pho Nguyen takes great care in preparing their dishes, maintaining a high standard of quality and authenticity. What makes Pho Nguyen even more special is the story behind it. The owner moved here from San Jose, California, and brought with them a wealth of experience in Vietnamese cuisine. The service at Pho Nguyen is warm and attentive, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. The staff is friendly and eager to make sure you have a great dining experience. Overall, Pho Nguyen is a must-visit if you're in Boise and craving Vietnamese food. With its authentic flavors, generous portions, and welcoming atmosphere, it’s a place I’ll keep coming back to. Whether you're a pho enthusiast or just looking for a great meal, Pho Nguyen won't disappoint.

Best Vietnamese I've had in town. No other place in the valley makes the Bun Tom Thit Nuong like this!

Ventured to Pho Nguyen to check it out. We love Pho and wasn't sure what to expect in this location. We were pleasantly surprised at the menu and how good the food was. The staff were super attentive and handled a full house quite well. They just opened the business recently and have a few kinks to work out, but you can tell they are serious about offering excellent customer service. While we were there, a lot of people came in to pick up their phone orders, repeat customers... and the staff remembered all their names, quite impressive. The food was on point and portion sizes were just the right size, however the Pho bowl seemed to be a little smaller than what we're used to for the price. Regardless the food was delicious. The atmosphere was a combination of fast food and restaurant, with napkin dispensers and utensils at the table, but the hot tea was served in full sized tea pots and the food in regular ceramic bowls/plates. They had a small selection of beer, wine and sake, and their "lime water" was really good! I'll definitely come back and try more menu items!

Listen. I didn’t just eat at this restaurant—I had a full-blown love affair with my bowl of vermicelli pork and enroll. It started innocent enough: a quick glance at the menu, a subtle flutter in my chest. But the moment that delicious bowl arrived, glistening with herbs and mystery, it was over for me. I made eye contact with a basil leaf and whispered, “I’m yours.” Each slurp of noodle was like being gently caressed by a silk robe made of beef broth and angel tears. I moaned. Loudly. A grandma at the next table gave me a thumbs-up. Respect. The spring rolls? So fresh, I’m 85% sure they had a skincare routine. I bit into one and my eyes rolled so far back I briefly saw my ancestors nodding in approval. That peanut sauce? Liquid seduction. I’d bathe in it if it were socially acceptable. Frankly, even if it wasn’t. Then came the banh mi. Oh dear god, the banh mi. That baguette had more crunch than my ex’s text receipts and more spice than my therapist knows I can handle. It was messy, chaotic, hot—like a night out in Saigon with no regrets and questionable decisions. No, they didn’t pay me to do the review. It was just that fuuucking good bro. Final Thoughts: I didn’t just eat Vietnamese food. I was seduced by it, emotionally healed, then laughed at myself for getting this worked up over a bowl of noodles. 11/10. Would let that fish sauce whisper dirty secrets to me again.

Absolutely love this place! Amazing atmosphere, authentic flavour, and affordable price! The boba alone is worth being a separate shop. We ordered about 10 different items, and none of them was disappointing.
